Temple of the Masks at Kohunlich ~ Travel Pic Pick

Off of the highway between Palenque in Chiapas and Chetumal, at Mexico’s border with Belize, lies the Mayan ruins of Kohunlich. The entire site is really beautiful, well worth turning off of the highway to get to. The Temple of the Masks was built around the year 500 A.D. and is home to some really beautiful examples of Mayan art and architecture. The masks, or stucco reliefs, are about 5 to 6 feet tall and represent the ruling family of Kohunlich. They are all facing the setting sun.

  1. Hi Dennis:

Don’t know if you know about this or not, but if not please write a review for Mayan Families. If they win, it’s $5,000 for a new preschool and feeding program.

The race for the $5,000 prize is exciting. The charity that garners the most user reviews this month will receive $5,000. It is not too late to rally Mayan Families supporters to write reviews. Mayan Families has 127 Reviews, the top group has 195 and the 2nd place group has 175. Write a 5 star excellent review.
